We selected 195 patients with depression (11-60 years old) and 1005 controls (non-depressed). Over a period of one year, the results of the indoor environment color preference test showed:

●Patients with depression prefer light blue to gray.

●After 6 weeks of treatment, only the yellow preference order changed, with a significant  decrease in red and gray preference and a significant increase in yellow preference.

●Depressed patients have a significantly higher preference for purple than healthy volunteers, and a lower preference for orange.

*Chromotherapy is a clinical intervention. The intervention method is significantly useful in alleviating negative emotions, changing maternal misconceptions, and improving maternal self-confidence.

American researcher Ludlow found that:

Phototherapy, as a non-drug approach, has shown great promise in improving symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD RD), with preliminary studies suggesting that appropriately timed light exposure can improve nighttime sleep efficiency, reduce nighttime wandering, and relieve nighttime restlessness.

●Methods

     Low-level "blue-white" lighting designed to provide high circadian stimulation during the day in 14 nursing homes for 4 weeks.

     Light-dark and rest-activity patterns were collected using a heliometer. Sleep duration and sleep efficiency mensurement were obtained using rest-activity data.

     Measurements of sleep quality, depression, and agitation were collected using standardized questionnaires at baseline, at the end of the 4-week lighting intervention, and 4 weeks after the lighting intervention was removed.

●Result

     The lighting intervention significantly reduced overall sleep scores on the Pittsburgh Sleep 

Quality Index and improved total sleep time and sleep efficiency.

     The lighting intervention significantly reduced depression scores on the Cornell Dementia 

Depression Scale and agitation scores on the Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Scale.
